Products and Services

Simufact is a leading FEA based simulation solution provider for metal forming, joining, welding, metal-based additive manufacturing and subtractive manufacturing such as milling and drilling. With the ability, on the one hand, to simulate the entire conventional manufacturing process chain, starting from blanking, shearing of wires or billets, to multi-stage forming, punching, trimming, and heat treatment followed by joining operations, welding, machining and structural analysis. On the other hand, the entire additive manufacturing process chain can be simulated and optimised, starting with powder bed fusion or metal binder jetting, heat treatment, cutting, support removal and machining. Simufact helps optimize the manufacturing processes, and reduce costs and time-to-market, while improving product quality.

The Simufact software solutions are divided into three product lines for specific requirements of each processes: Simufact Forming, Simufact Welding and Simufact Additive.
Simufact Welding

Simufact Welding is used for modelling and optimizing a wide range of fusion and pressure welding processes, taking into account weld sequence and clamping. Processes such as arc welding, laser beam welding, electron beam welding, brazing as well as resistance spot welding can be modelled in Simufact Welding. Additionally, Simufact Welding can be used to model the heat treatment, different variants for cooling and unclamping as well as the mechanical load on welded structures.

Simufact Forming

Simufact Forming is an established software solution for the simulation of metal forming manufacturing processes. The software covers all essential areas of forming technology: forging, cold forming, sheet metal forming, all major incremental processes and mechanical joining. Simufact Forming provides support in microstructure simulation, calculation of die load and conventional and inductive heat treatment. Furthermore, thermo-mechanical joining methods of pressure welding are also supported.

Simufact Additive

Simufact Additive is a scalable software solution for the simulation of metal-based additive manufacturing processes which focuses on powder bed melting (L-PBF) and metal binder jetting (MBJ) processes. Simufact Additive is designed to predict and compensate for distortion, residual stress and temperature distribution, heat treatment, cutting, hot isostatic pressing (HIP) as well as machining processes virtually before the part is manufactured by the 3D metal printer in reality.

Extended Python API in Simufact Welding 2021 enables complete automation from model creation to evaluation of welding processes
Hamburg, April 26, 2020 – Simufact, part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division, has announced the release of Simufact Welding 2021. The latest version includes an extended Python API that enables the user to fully automate his welding process simulation workflows from model creation to the evaluation of many variants or different processes. It offers productivity improvements and reduces human error. Further enhancements include a new weld bead creation tool, the enhancement of the heat source definition, and the further improvements regarding the direct energy deposition (DED) module making Simufact Welding 2021 an easy to use Software tool.
