About us

Made in Germany – worldwide

Deutsche Nickel GmbH is your quality leader in the manufacture of Wire and Bar products from Nickel, Nickel-base, Copper-Nickel and Iron-Nickel alloys. We employ around 200 people worldwide with an annual turnover of about 100 million Euros. We are one of the Top 10 manufacturers of round products in the global Nickel industry. Customers from a wide variety of industries appreciate the opportunities provided by our manufacturing processes, our mentality of a typical medium size industrial company, our innovation and, above all, our flexibility, which can also provide you with significant competitive advantages in your market place.

We manufacture our wide range of products in various alloys and each with its own special properties at our logistically ideal location in the Ruhr valley: the industrial heartland of Germany. We operate Sales, Distribution and Service networks in Europe, America and Asia. These promise short lead times, quick responses and a close relationship with our customers. We are proud to offer experienced advice with regards to materials and their applications.

We manufacture Nickel alloy wire products in diameters from 0.1 mm fine wire up to 20 mm dia. wire rod. These alloys are melted from raw materials and master alloys in accordance with our own chemical analysis specifications. Melting is performed either in an open electric furnace, or in a vacuum furnace. If required by the melt route, the alloy might then be re-melted by means of ESR or VAR technology and finally poured into the ingot mould or continuous casting apparatus. The subsequent hot forming processing of the ingots / electrodes to wire-rod either takes place in two stages via ingot hot-rolling and then billet hot-rolling or in a continuous process. The surface of the wire-rod is either chemically treated (pickled) or machined (peeled) and then the drawing processes are carried out with a combination of fine-tuned drawing steps and heat treatment procedures. We can supply large, medium or fine wire diameters in accordance with customer packaging requirements, such as in coils, on formers, in drums, on spools, or in straight cut lengths, with or without stamped and embossed ends.

Nickel and Nickel alloy round and flat wire for use in a wide range of different applications. Manufacturing options: peeling, grinding, drawing, heat treatment, straightening, spooling. Diameter range: from 0.1 mm fine wire up to 20 mm wire rod.

We operate state-of-the-art machinery, with which we manufacture both standard and customer-specific semi-finished products.

NICKEL ALLOY FILLER METALS We manufacture Nickel alloy wire products in diameters from 0.1 mm fine wire up to 20 mm dia.

The foundation stone of our success is our employees. Therefore we put great emphasis on the education and selection of qualified employees and their further training.

Vision: Best in Nickel - Deutsche Nickel We are working together with passion, competence and customer focus to achieve our target: to be the Quality Leader in sophisticated semi-finished round products. Mission: Best performing metals making a modern world work Our alloys continue to prove themselves in difficult and demanding environments and help the world to move forward. Values and indentity: Our core values are documented and represent what Deutsche Nickel stands for. Our Corporate Identity is the DNA of Deutsche Nickel and helps set us apart from the competition.

In order to ensure the highest quality requirements, we provide a wide range of testing facilities (non-destructive testing, metallography, destructive testing, physical testing and wet chemistry testing). This helps us to guarantee conformance with the required properties and customer specifications, as well as with the testing requirements of all of the regular national and international standards, whether that be for incoming raw material, during production or for the finished product. Our company’s Management System is regularly audited by Third Party approval organisations.

NICKEL AND NICKEL ALLOY BARS We manufacture Nickel alloy bars in diameters between 6.35mm and 450mm. These can be supplied in fixed lengths or random lengths, in accordance with customer specifications and tolerances or international standards. The subsequent hot forming processing of the ingots usually takes place in two stages via ingot hot-rolling and then billet hot-rolling. An alternative forging production route can also be selected, depending on the final size and condition of the bar. In this case the hot working would be performed by a forging press and also by a radial forging machine (eg. GFM), depending on final size. These hot worked black bars can then be processed into cold worked semi-finished products. For the most part, the cold working operation consists of peeling, drawing and straightening steps, combined with intermediate and/or final heat treatment processes. The finished bars could be as long as 8.5 metres and can be packed in accordance with the customer’s requirements and despatched.
